I have together with my husband bought a space to play with artists in the future! BIRCA is beautifully placed on the island of Bornholm in the middle of the Baltic sea, surrounded by some of Europe’s most fantastic nature.It is my new playground, which my husband and I took over on April 1st, and have since worked on to clean, paint and make hommy for you all.

BIRCA is made for performing artists. The ambition is to create room for reflection and practice with a feeling of home and belonging for artists from all over the world. It will be an amazing worksspace for all international performing artists – here you can rest, reflect, practice, create – and engage in how nature can influence and inspire the creation of arts.

I am looking so much forward to sharing it with you all!

BIRCA has two big rehearsing spaces: the White space (160 m2) and the Black space (130 m2), and can accomodate 16-20 persons with kitchen facilities, stables and 32.000 m2 of land.
The artists I already work with will ofcourse be the core group of the place – but there is space for more people. I will use the space to do my own strategy development sessions and mentorships – so you can come and get a total makeover while practising on the floor. I will in the process draw on my network to include fx expertice in dramaturgi, visual elements, network etc.

But is it also possible to do your own courses here. I hope to have yoga retreats. The possiblities are many and I am trying to keep the doors open for ideas.

Bækkelund looks like this and consists of 3 buildings:

1) Main house app 200 m2 plus 120 m2 cellar – with common spaces for everyone plus 3 good rooms upstairs.

2) The old machinhall with the beautiful White Space of 160 m2 dancefloor.

3) The Stables with the 130 m2 Black space and the Atelier appartment which can accomodate app 4 persons.

And then there is 32.000 m2 of land – 1/3 of it a small forest. A big sky and wide horizont.

The White space

This is the great white space with 160 m2 of dancefloor – just waiting to be used in the summertime (not heated for winter).

Price for rent is 700 € for one week, which include accomodation for up to 4 persons with kitchen facilities.

The Black space

This is the black space with 130 m2, a little less rough and possible to heat.

Price for rent is 700 € for one week, which include accomodation in the atelier appartment for up to 4 persons and use of kitchen facilities.

West room

If you just need a quite place to think and write you can rent this room with space for 2 persons.

Price for 1 week is 200 €.

The Atelier

This is a seperate appartment in the old stable of 130 m2 with this living room, an upstair sleeping/studie place and a small bedroom.

Price for rent is 350 € for one week. The space can accomodation up to 4 persons and use of kitchen facilities is included.
